Life has been crazy. We have Covid-19 zipping around, people being outed for sexual misconduct, and the rest of the zany horror stuff. Let's talk about that. Sexual misconduct. Why? Why is it happening so much in the horror community? Probably because it has always been around, and we're now hearing about it. Do your research, avoid those situations, and please don't send nudies. If you feel nervous at a convention, get someone to walk with you. TELL people if something happens that makes you feel threatened. That is for males and females. Trust your gut. There are always nice people who will walk with you, listen to you, and help you. THINK.

Young Students in Horror. Deadline is approaching. Teachers and Budding Young Authors spread the word please. With school restarting at least give your kids something positive to work on. The Horror Writers Assocation is looking for applications for the Etchison Young Writer Award. Applicants open to students in grades 10-12 (or the equivalent, if home schooled), with an interest in writing horror/dark fiction. Applicants must be at least 13 years of age. Affiliation with the Horror Writers Association is not required. The $500 award can be applied to college tuition, course fees (on line or traditional), and/or materials pertaining to the enhancement of writing skills, such as textbooks, software, or computers. The money can also be used for online Horror University courses from the HWA (information on Horror U. courses available online – www.horror.org or by request). It is a great opportunity to encourage young writers. The recipient will have 2 years to utilize the funds and multi-award nominated author JG Faherty will mentor the winner for 6 months.The Deadline is September 1, 2020.
